Penshaw Monument.

(not that it is difficult to see)

From the A1: Whether you are heading North or South on the A1 take the exit at junction 63. Then follow the signs for the A183 to Sunderland. At the Shiney Row roundabout you will pick up the brown signs for the monument. After about a mile the monument is visible on the left hand side.

From the A19: Again, whether you are travelling either North or South take the slip road for the A183 to Chester-le-Street. After about a mile the Monument is is visible on the right hand side. There is a mini roundabout at the foot of Penshaw Hill

Parking: There is limited parking at the foot of Penshaw Hill. alternatively you could make your way into Old Penshaw Village and park there.
